The Center for Alumni and Careers, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), in 2018 and 2019 has held a GIG Economy program which aims to provide opportunities for students to generate income while studying (earn & learn) on a freelance basis with the industry. The GIG Economy program at the Public University level was started by the Steering Committee for the Management of Graduate Marketability Fund (GE), Ministry of Higher Education on 28 February 2018 with an allocation of RM50,000 for a University.

This program has started in 2018 by involving USIM students through several phases of its implementation. This program is also assisted by the Psychology and Counseling unit, Student Affairs Division (HEP), Community Involvement Center and Industry Network (PLMJI), Entrepreneurship Center (PKUU). Meanwhile, on behalf of the industry, USIM received cooperation from Alumni Company, Big Lemon, Fatonah Kindergarten, Home Tutor and the industry such as BERNAMA, Rumah Ngaji, BSN Prudential, and others. Apart from that, the Alumni and Career Center, USIM has collaborated with the Federal Religious Secondary School (SMAP), Labu, Negeri Sembilan which offers opportunities to USIM students as Facilitators to help students in form two, three and four in Arabic, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students will be given a consolation payment provided by SARANA and SMAP Labu PTA. The program is known as the USIM, SARANA and PTA SMAP Labu Alumni Community Programme (KOMPASS).
